Ice Skating Bags
Ice skating bags are often an afterthought but great care should be taken when purchasing one. Not only do they protect your expensive skates, they can also be fashion accessories and add the finishing touches to your outfit. Some people (mainly women) even have a variety of different bags in a variety of different colours so they can mix and match with the various outfits they own.

Ice Skating Bags
The ice skating bag you require will very much depend on its use. If its main function is to protect your boots and make carrying them easier, you will be able to buy up a bag quite cheaply and be perfectly happy with. If your bag is going to be a fashion accessory then the choices will be more complicated and this is an article for you. We hope to guide you through the skate bag buying process and ensure you buy a bag that you’ll be able to use for years to come.
Shape
The most popular shape is unsurprisingly the boot shape. These tend to use less material than the more elaborate styles so are more affordable.
Colour
In recent years the numbers of colours that skate bags are available in has significantly increased, so make sure you shop around and find a colour you want and that suits the rest of your kit. Due to the lower prices of some brands, I know of people who have different colour ice skating bags dependant on their outfit.
Look out for…..
An important factor to look for in ice skating bags is the material they are made of, particularly the piece that comes into contact with the ice skate blades. This will need to be reinforced with either metal strips or some very tough plastic to ensure that the bag last for a long period of time and doesn’t get ripped to shreds by the blades.
Brands
All the brands that you would normally associate with ice skating produce their own bags including Nike, Bauer, SFR, Stateside, CCM, Edea and many more. It’s wise to get the same brand boots as ice skating bag as they are likely to fit together better and offer more protection. Many retailers will offer discounts if they are purchased at the same time.
Where to buy your ice skating bag
Specialist ice skating retailers will have the widest selection and have the benefit of being able to test them with your current boots before you purchase. Hypermarkets will sometimes have ice skating bags on special offer and can be picked up at super low prices. They won’t have the range of styles or colours so you might have to make sacrifices.
The internet is obviously a great place to purchase, as they have large stock levels and also offer low prices. The drawback is that you won’t be able to see it in the flesh until it’s arrived in the post so it’s a slight gamble.
